Winter X Games are taking place in Europe
For the first time, the Winter X Games are taking place in Europe, with a truly exceptional line-up
of athletes. Just a few weeks after the Winter X Games in Aspen and the Winter Olympics
in Vancouver, France will have the honour of hosting the world’s very best freestyle skiers and
snowboarders to round off a truly incredible winter in style. The French Alpine resort of Tignes
will be hosting the next three editions of the Winter X Games Europe. The first edition to be held
outside America is set to take place from March 10th to 12th 2010.
Canal+SPORT plans to screen over ten hours of live coverage from the event, with
Fabrice Lecuyer and his two special guests Anne-Flore Marxer and Candide Thovex, who’ll
be providing expert commentary on all the finals. Meanwhile, Stefan Etcheverry will be hosting
the show “LES SPÉCIALISTES LE CLUB”.
Last but not least, Canal+ will be screening a 52-minute documentary special taking a look
behind the scenes at the X Games.

Stefan Etcheverry, who joins the SPECIALISTS every Wednesday at 7.40pm to analyze the
week’s sports news, will be live from Tignes for an X Games special, where he’ll be joined by
some of the stars of winter sports.

To make sure you don’t miss a thing, CANAL+ will be screening a special programme
dedicated to the Winter X Games, going behind the scenes of an event that has become
a cultural phenomenon.
The Experts
Anne-Flore Marxer and Candide Thovex, stars of snowboarding and freestyle skiing,
to provide expert commentary for Canal+SPORT at the Winter X Games Europe
For the first ever edition of the Winter X Games Europe, Canal+SPORT is joining forces
with the best exponents of the discipline. Anne-Flore Marxer and Candide Thovex,
the two hugely successful specialists in snowboarding and freestyle skiing, will be providing
the benefit of all their expertise live on Canal+SPORT, alongside host Fabrice Lecuyer.
Fabrice will also be accompanied by Jean-Philippe Garcia, one of the pioneers of freestyle
(former coach of Doriane Vidal, silver medallist in Salt Lake City, and Mathieu Crépel, double
world champion), as well as Charlie Bellemin (halfpipe specialist with three World Cup
appearances).
ESPN AND Canal+EVENTS, CO-ORGANIZERS OF THE EVENT
ESPN and Canal+EVENTS are expecting close to 70,000 visitors over the three days
of the competition.
ESPN and Canal+EVENTS began their collaboration in June 2009. ESPN is responsible
for the entire sports side, while Canal+EVENTS, as manager of the Winter X Games
Europe, will be providing all its know-how in the areas of event organization, marketing
and TV production, and enlisting the Canal+ channels to cover the competition.
